HOUSTON (KTRK) -- For the first time, the public will get to see the new baby sea lion at the Houston Zoo.
The pup called TJ will be out in the sea lion marina when the zoo opens at 9am.

For weeks now, TJ has been learning how to swim alongside her mother.
Sea lions aren't born knowing how to swim. They have to be taught and as you can see, this proud mom has been a great teacher.
Her parents, Kamia and Jonah, have watched over TJ as she learned how to navigate the waters.
Sea lion supervisor Sophia Darling says the pup has loved exploring her new home at the Houston Zoo.
TJ's arrival marked the first sea lion birth at the zoo since 1994.
