Robbers shoot man who told them he didn't have any money
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is in the hospital after police say he was shot during an attempted robbery in northeast Harris County.
It happened outside a home in the 11,900 block of Coral Reef near Park Trail.
Police say a nephew and his uncle were sitting in a SUV in front of the nephew's house when two men dressed in black approached from across the street. One of the men pulled a gun and demanded money.
When the uncle and nephew told the robbers they didn't have any money, the suspects shot the uncle in the abdomen and ran off on foot. The nephew then saw the two men jump into a red Dodge pickup truck.
The nephew then chased after the suspects for several blocks until they opened fire on him. At that point, he stopped his chase and called 911.
The suspects are all still on the loose. The uncle was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
