Ribbons mark years of hope for peace for Jessica Cain
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Red and yellow ribbons hang along the fence posts at the site on E Orem Drive where investigators are digging for the body of Jessica Cain, missing since 1997.
Mandy Albritton is responsible for the ribbons. She was involved in the search for Cain 19 years ago.
"I have prayed for this child for years and years," Albritton said. "Just hoping upon hope that this is it, and she is here."

Albritton said the red ribbons represent Jessica Cain, and the yellow ribbons hang in honor of Laura Smither. Smither was kidnapped while jogging near her home in Friendswood. Her body was later found in Pasadena. Reece was suspected in her death but was never charged.
Albritton hopes this field on E Orem holds answers for the family of Jessica Cain.
"This feels like we're finally gonna get some peace with this child. It's been so long to wait and wonder what happened to her," Albritton said. "I'm so glad that if Mr. Reece is speaking that he's telling the truth this time."

A large backhoe can be seen slowly lifting dirt, scooping and then sifting through the dirt. It happens over and over again as investigators hope to inch closer to a resolution to a 17-year mystery.
