HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A motorcyclist died early this morning after losing control, going off an overpass and landing on top of a pick-up truck.

It happened around 11:30pm last night on the northbound 59/288 exit ramp that goes to the I-45 North Freeway when the rider lost control.

The rider, identified only as a 35-year-old male, was on a gray Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on the entrance ramp of the South Freeway to the North Freeway. Police believe the rider was going too fast and lost control of his motorcycle.

The motorcycle went flying over the Highway 288 entrance ramp overpass and landed on the Southwest Freeway below. The victim was then struck by a gray Toyota Tundra pickup truck and several other vehicles. He died at the scene.

A man and woman in the pick-up truck were not hurt.

The freeway was shut down for several hours while police investigated.
