The FBI announced Wednesday night it had found an 11-year-old girl who disappeared Tuesday afternoon in Catawba County, North Carolina.

Emily Jaide Dowdle was last seen Tuesday at about 2:45 p.m. after the school bus dropped her off along Hudson Chapel Road, according to the FBI. She was reported missing by a family member 45 minutes later.

But on Wednesday around 9:30 p.m., the FBI said in a statement, "Emily was located within the last half hour in a wooded area near her home. She is safe and will be checked out by medics. Our thanks go out to hundreds of law enforcement, fire fighters, and other first responders. Additional details will be released when appropriate, likely sometime tomorrow morning."
