Man struck by driver in west Houston dies
A man has died while trying to cross the road on Highway 6 at Memorial Drive.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police have shut down Highway 6 near Memorial Drive after a man was killed crossing the road.

Houston police tell abc13 the man in his 20's was crossing Highway 6 early this morning when he was hit by a woman coming northbound on Highway 6.

Officers say the driver of the Mitsubishi SUV did not see the man until she hit him.

This image shows damage to the Mitsubishi SUV which police say collided with the man on Highway 6.

This stretch of Highway 6 is not lit very well and police say the man was wearing dark clothing.

Police say the man was walking westbound across the road and was hit in the middle of the highway. The victim was dragged about 100 yards. The driver did stop and called 911. At this point, police do not expect the woman will face any criminal charges.

All we know the about the victim is he had a West Virginia driver's license. Officers are still trying to notify his family.
