Merle Carol Heard, 34, is accused of upskirting women at a NW Houston grocery story

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Spring man is accused of capturing cell phone images from under women's skirts on two different occasions at a northwest Harris County grocery store.

According to court documents, the incidents happened on August 13 and September 22 of this year at the H-E-B at 10919 Louetta Road. In the August 13 incident, investigators say a witness noticed a man, identified as Merle Carol Heard, 34, with a cell phone under a woman's skirt.

Investigators say the witness yelled at the man, who then ran off. That witness identified Heard out of a photo lineup.

Then on September 22 at the same store, a loss prevention officer said she noticed Heard doing the same thing. That officer shot video of what Heard is alleged of doing and turned it over to investigators.

According to court documents, Heard was later found in the parking lot performing a lewd act. An employee, who was aware of what Heard was accused of doing inside the store earlier, approached him. That's when Heard reportedly jumped in his vehicle. Responding deputies arrived and were able to arrest him.

Heard is charged with improper photography/visual recording.
