Local Syrian artist paints in reaction to U.S. missile airstrikes
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- With every brush stroke, local artist Mohammed Baro expresses his deepest thoughts and concerns for his home country of Syria.
"(It's all about the) emotion for him that he can tell the people how he feel," explained his son, who translated for ABC13.
Some of his paintings included dark images, chains and bloodshed.
Baro has been painting his experiences as a refugee for as long as he can remember, but on Friday morning he did something he had not done in years.
"He have some hope, that's why he change his color," said his son in broken English.
He went from black and red to tranquil vivid colors.
After the U.S. bombed a Syrian government airbase in response to the chemical weapons attack, Baro felt inspired to paint.

"He do it what he feel," explained his son.
However, not everyone shares his opinion.
On Friday evening, the Houston Socialist movement decided to hold an "emergency demonstration against the attack."
"With Russia backing Syria, that's an impending war," said Chancellor Glover-Herzot.
As for Baro, he pulled out an old painting and added one minor touch that symbolizes a possible major change.
He painted a sign of peace.
