HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Ignocia Ortega's wife is still in shock a month after her husband was murdered gardening.
Investigators say 18-year-old Philip Battles was one of the suspects in the case. He's charged with his murder.
In court on Wednesday investigators said 18-year-old Philip Battles confessed to the crime. Investigators say he told officers he and two others planned to rob Ortega. One of suspects shot him and they took off. A witness also helped officers link Battles to the crime.
Ortega's wife talked with 13 Eyewitness News saying, I hope they are the right guys and I hope they don't have any way to get out. Just think about the crimes they committed they could do that to others," she said.
Ortega was 62-years-old. His wife said he has no enemies. He leaves behind two children.
"Whatever happens, whatever the law does to him, my husband is not coming back. God have mercy for them," said his wife.
