HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police say an eyewitness may have come face to face with a man's killer in Montrose overnight.
Homicide investigators say a group of homeless young people were sleeping behind a charity when they were approached by another man who was also identified as homeless.

"He said, 'You want to see a dead body?'" homicide detective Fil Waters said.
The man allegedly took the group to the porch of a consignment shop where a man was lying in a pool of blood.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, had died from his injuries, Waters says.

Police were called around 3:30am and met an eyewitness who said she believed the man was suspicious.
The young woman's father is a police officer, according to homicide detectives, and suspected the man may have been involved.
Waters says after the woman questioned the man, he became anxious and defensive.
She asked several men to help hold him down while she called for police, but the suspect got away on a bicycle.
Investigators says the nature of the details the woman gave were consistent with what they observed at the scene.
The man is described as a white male wearing a black hoodie without sleeves, khaki pants, a ballcap and a black backpack. Waters says he had a tattoo on his right shoulder.
