HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A bank robbery suspect was found dead Wednesday afternoon in a hotel in northwest Houston, and now three men are being questioned by police.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office tells us the robbery suspect was under surveillance at Palace Inn in the 4000 block of FM 1960. Authorities say the man had appeared to have been staying at the hotel for several days and had realized Wednesday that he was being watched.

Around 12:45pm, officers say he went into his room and that's when officer called out to him via loudspeaker. Law enforcement officers say they then heard what might have been a gunshot and then moved in. They say they found the suspect they'd been watching dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The weapon was found inside the room, according to HCSO.

The man has not been identified. Authorities have also not released information yet about the robbery he was suspected of committing.

Three others who were in that room with the suspect were detained for questioning. Police say they are considered persons of interest.
