NEW CANEY, TX -- Members of the New Caney and Splendora fire departments have banded together to show support for one of their own. Approximately 13 firefighters came up with the idea to shave their heads in an act of support for Chief Zach Rutledge's wife, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

"Chief Rutledge has always been great to us and so has his wife, anytime she is up at the station," said Lt. Wade Julian, who was among the group. "We knew that there was only so much we could do but we decided to go ahead and do this and send her a picture to let her know we were thinking of her."

The group had originally planned to sport T-shirts in support of their friend. However, when the shirts sold out quicker than anticipated, the group decided to take the plunge, all shaving their head in a show of solidarity.
