Driver jumps out moments before train smashes pickup in Splendora

SPLENDORA (KTRK) -- A driver jumped out of his truck just moments before it was destroyed by an oncoming train Saturday.

Firefighters say the truck collided with a pickup on the tracks at East River Road near Highway 59 in Splendora. The truck driver's door was jammed but he managed to get out just before the train slammed into the vehicle.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital.
