HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man has been charged with killing his girlfriend at an apartment complex in northwest Harris County, with her two young children home at the time. And it was apparently the children who pointed investigators to him.
Dante Thomas, 20, is accused in the death of Linda Vu, 24. According to new information from investigators, Vu's children talked about her murder in great detail with investigators.
A roommate of Vu and Thomas arrived home at about 11:45pm Tuesday to discover Vu stabbed to death in their apartment in northwest Harris County. Her two children were there alone with her.
According to court documents, the children told told the roommate their mother was dead, later describing to investigators that Thomas stabbed their mother.
The roommate quickly took the kids and called 911 from a nearby business. The children are now with family, and investigators caught up with Thomas, who they say confessed to stabbing Vu to death during an argument. An autopsy showed that she was stabbed seven times.
Thomas is in custody in the Harris County Jail with bond set at $50,000. He's scheduled to go before a judge again on Monday. The charge against him is murder.
