DALLAS, TX -- A body discovered in the trunk of a Ford Mustang has been identified as a woman who was reported missing earlier this month.
Authorities identified 48-year-old Lisa Byrd-New Andrews on Wednesday. Police found Andrews Tuesday in the vehicle parked outside a Dallas apartment complex.
Greenville police spokeswoman Autumn Barton says Andrews was reported missing Dec. 11. She was last seen by her family Dec. 7 driving the Mustang in Greenville, Texas, about 50 miles northeast of Dallas. Barton says the car was registered to a family member.
The coroner has not yet released a cause of death but Barton says Dallas police are treating the case as a possible homicide.
