If you think the trend of extreme couponing has gone away, for some shoppers, it's as hot as ever.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you think the trend of extreme couponing has gone away, for some shoppers, it's as hot as ever.

One local woman Vonda Broden says she is consistently saving 90% off her groceries.

Recently she had one of her biggest savings.

Her total before coupons was $653, but after all her coupons were scanned, she saving $560!

Vonda says anyone can become an "extreme couponer" but she admits it takes a lot of work.

She says she spends about 25 to 30 hours a week planning her shopping trips and matching her coupons with sales.

But she says two sites help her find those deals.

She uses "Flipp" an app that searches deals and coupons by item, brand, or category.

She also uses "Favado" it's another app that will help compare deals.

Vonda also buys multiple Sunday papers for the coupons and teaches coupon classes once a week.

It's $25.
