What are Harris County's top stolen vehicles?

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Truck lovers, be warned: Someone is watching you and if you are not careful your prized possession could be gone in 60 seconds.

Ford, Chevy and Dodge trucks are the most popular vehicles on the road and truck owners are no the only ones who like them; thieves love them too.

For the last four months Ford, Chevy and Dodge trucks have been in the top five of the most stolen vehicles in Houston. In fact, Ford and Chevy trucks routinely are the most or second most stolen in Houston.

Because trucks are so popular they can be sold for parts, and that's one reason they are taken from owners at such a high rate.

"I guess there is not much we can do about it, just lock your vehicles and that's about it," truck owner Ervin Rodgers said.

"Do you think there is anything truck drivers can do about it?" we asked truck owner Greg Ballard.

"No, just I guess just wait for insurance to pay it off I guess," he said.

So what can a truck owner do? One said a dog, another said a gun, but keeping it in your garage if possible seems like the best option.
