Missing realtor has ties to Houston area
Beverly Carter has been missing since Thursday. On Monday, an arrest was made.

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KTRK) -- A man considered a suspect in the disappearance of a missing realtor in Arkansas is now in police custody.

Deputies say Aaron Lewis was taken into custody around 10am today. The 33-year-old is suspected in the disappearance of 49-year-old Beverly Carter.

Carter vanished Thursday after showing a home in Scott, a small community located in the central part of the state.

Lewis was involved in a car accident yesterday, leaving him with a gash across his forehead and a bloody nose, according to ABCNews.com. At the time, detectives snapped a photo showing his facial injuries, but they didn't have the warrant to arrest him at that time.

Lewis slipped away after being treated at a Little Rock hospital and after an arrest warrant was issued, he was picked up this morning.

Investigators have not released any other details about the arrest.

Carter, who remains missing, attended Splendora High School. She has family still living in Texas.

Joann Pelton is her husband's aunt.

"I couldn't believe it. You know, that stuff happens all the time but you don't think about it happening in your own family," Pelton says.

She first met Beverly in the mid 1980s and says since then Beverly has become a doting wife and patient mother. She's been watching the news closely since word came of Beverly's disappearance. Still, she insists they have faith, saying " ...we know nothing is impossible with God. The Bible tells us that."
