Missing girl found safe, reunited with mother

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A missing 10-year-old girl was found safe Sunday evening after she was reported missing for hours.

Initially, Houston police said Avion Thomas was seen leaving the Plainfield Inn around 5:30am Sunday. She was also seen on video walking south on the feeder road of US-59. Equusearch confirmed the girl was found safe by herself in a wooded area.

Houston police and Equusearch were involved in the search.
