Body of missing 2-year-old found in Brooklyn pond

PROSPECT PARK -- The body of a missing 2-year-old was found in a pond near the boathouse in Prospect Park in Brooklyn on Saturday after a frantic 5-hour search.

Two-year-old Ruhshona Kurbonova's mother reported both Ruhshona and her 4-year-old brother went missing around 1:30 p.m.

The 4-year-old boy was found within a half an hour, and was reunited with the mother.

The boy was in a pond, but police got to him quickly and pulled him out. When police asked where his sister was, he pointed to the pond. Dive teams focused their efforts on the green, murky waters, where they eventually found the body of Ruhshona.

At the time the child went missing, Eyewitness News is told the mother was cooking inside the park and was working on a barbeque.
