HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Metropolitan Multi-Service Center on West Gray Street was forced to shutdown due to flooding from a major water main leak.
The recreation center is located at the 1400 block of West Gray offers a range of programs for residents with disabilities and meeting rooms for clubs and associations.
The leak has caused major damage to the building. Officials say electricity has been cut off at the center for safety reasons. Assessment of the damage and an estimate of the duration of repairs will take place as soon as it is safe for crews to enter the building.
The department will focus efforts on moving programs and events to other community centers during repairs.
Workers have already begun the process of drying out the place, but the MMSC will be closed till further notice.
