HOUSTON (KTRK) -- New ideas to revitalize Memorial Park will be revealed today.
It's a Master Plan to revitalize and bring back the greatness of the Park.
For years, a number of improvements have been underway to restore it, since the 2011 drought nearly sucked the life out of this Iconic park. The foliage was decimated and trees were destroyed or dying everywhere.
The new master plan , being presented by several companies is expected to restore the habitat, preserve the ecosystem and enhance and upgrade the amenities of Memorial Park.
It's also expected to Enhance the infrastructure as well as honor the cultural and ecological history of the park.
Planners are presenting some of their ideas today at a meeting in Memorial Park.
The entire Master Plan will be submitted to the Mayor and City Council in the Spring of 2015.
