Homicide investigators were called to a home in west Houston where one person has been killed and another injured.

Houston police say a man killed his mother and injured his father in the 12300 block of Westella Drive around 5:20 p.m. Friday.

Both of the parents had stab wounds, according to police.

Moments before the crime, neighbor, Adela Nugent, saw the son walking down the street.

"I looked at him and his eyes were bulging," Nugent said. "He stared at me all the way down."

She sped away, and couldn't believe the crime scene tape when she returned home.

"It's unreal," Nugent said. "It's really scary to think that if I would have made a wrong move maybe he would've tried to attack me."

Authorities say the father has been transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a man in his mid 20s. The parents are described as being in their 70s.

Officers said the suspect didn't offer much when they arrived on the scene.

"He was quiet," Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Wendy Baimbridge said. "He didn't say a whole lot. He did say some things, which I can't release."

Neighbors are wondering if he gave police a motive, because they're all left wondering the same thing.

"Why? Why? The people that raised you," Mike Nugent said. "Why would you do that to them?"

Officers say the suspect is in custody.

Officers say the suspect had a history of domestic abuse and drug problems.

"There was a warrant open for assaulting his mother, and there was a protective order against him to stay away from the home," Baimbridge said.Report a typo to the ABC13 staff
