World renowned percussion group visits Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Sixteen musicians traveled around the world to bring the world renowned Malaysian percussion group Diplomats of Drum to Houston. The dance and music workshop held at Houston Community College is an interactive experience, broadening horizons.

"The arts is something that can bridge communities, bridge races," said musician Alena Murang. "Within our own band, there are five different races and five different religions, so the music has brought us together as well."

The group is spending a week in Houston, visiting several schools and introducing their culture to students.
