J.J. Watt help's cancer survivor's wish come true

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- J.J. Watt is one of the biggest stars in the NFL and Texans fans also know that Watt has a soft spot in his heart for his youngest fans. Watt is part of a nine-year-old cancer patient's wish that is coming true as part of the ESPN "My Wish" series.

Will Martinez is a huge J.J. Watt fan and he has the Texans star on every corner of his bedroom. However, he's not just a fan, he's now a friend.

"That's J.J. Watt right here and he gave me these gloves and he also gave me this helmet," Will said as he pointed out a picture in his bedroom.

The two became buddies through the Make-A-Wish Foundation when Watt surprised Will at home this summer. Their meeting is seen on the ESPN "My Wish" series.

After tossing around the football in the front yard, they sat down for a BBQ dinner with all the sides.

"I think it was like the awesomest wish I could ever have. I didn't even know he was coming to our house!"

Will battled leukemia for three years, empowered by the motto "Will Power," and now he's a healthy nine-year-old.

"I was just so happy, it's hard to describe," Allison Martinez, Will's mom said about his recovery. "Puts everything in perspective. I'm like, everything else is totally fine, we're good to go, you know."

Will even got to go to two Texans practices and break down the huddle. He picked up some signed footballs and a jersey from his new friends, who he can't stop talking about.

"I took a picture to school and I was showing all my friends and they were like, 'What? How did Will Martinez get to meet J.J. Watt?'"

Will passed NRG every day he was getting cancer treatment, and on Sunday, he's inside for the very first time, watching the Texans play, thanks to friends who gave the family their tickets.

It's another wish come true.
