Lone Star College-North Harris campus evacuated after hoax 911 call

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- Lone Star College-North Harris County campus was evacuated Thursday night after a hoax 911 call, police said.

According to officials, a woman called 911 just after 8pm and said there was an active shooter on campus.

"She quickly said 'hurry, hurry, he's coming to shoot me now, he's coming in the room, hurry,'" Lone Star College Police Chief Paul Willingham said.

When officers arrived to the campus they realized the call was a hoax.

"It's frustrating because we all want to go home but they're keeping us here for a hoax," student Sean Correa said. "They wasted everybody's time."

Willingham says close to 100 law enforcement officers responded to the call.

He expects charges to be filed against the woman once she is identified.

No other details have been released.
