Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Wednesday denied President Donald Trump's claim that the country's president had requested a ceasefire, calling it "false and baseless," state TV reported.
President Donald Trump said that Iran's "new regime president" asked for a ceasefire, calling him "much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors," in a post on social media.
"We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!" Trump said.
President Donald Trump told The Telegraph newspaper he is strongly considering pulling the U.S. out of NATO, criticizing the reluctance of allied nations to join the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war in Iran.
"I would say (it's) beyond reconsideration. I was never swayed by NATO. I always knew they were a paper tiger, and (Russian President Vladimir) Putin knows that too, by the way," he said in the interview, which was published on Wednesday.
Trump told The Telegraph he thought allies joining the war should have been "automatic," even though he did not consult with them before attacking Iran.
"We've been there automatically, including Ukraine. Ukraine wasn't our problem. It was a test, and we were there for them, and we would always have been there for them. They weren't there for us."
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was asked about Trump's comments at a news conference on Wednesday morning and defended his decision to stay out of the war.
"I have to act in our national interests," Starmer told reporters. "This is not our war," he continued, noting "a good deal of pressure on me to change my position in relation to joining the war. I'm not going to change my position on the war."
Iranian missile fire toward central Israel and Tel Aviv wounded at least 14 people on Wednesday, according to Israel's Magen David Adom emergency service.
Eleven of those injured were "in light condition," the MDA said in a post to X. One 11-year-old girl was in a serious condition, while a 36-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy were reported to be in moderate condition, the MDA said.
The Israel Defense Forces posted to X reporting "impact sites in the center of the country" and the deployment of emergency responders to the sites.
