LA PORTE, TX (KTRK) -- La Porte ISD has cancelled classes for Monday after weekend storms caused damage to several buildings in the district.

Officials say several campuses were impacted by the storms with the power feed at Baker Sixth Grade Campus taking a hit and portions of La Porte High School were flooded.

"First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with members of the La Porte ISD family who were adversely affected by the storms that swept through our area this weekend," La Porte ISD Superintendent of Schools Lloyd Graham said.

Graham also said in a release that campus and district support staff will still be on duty.

Classes at Jennie Reid Elementary will resume on Wednesday or Thursday. The elementary school suffered roof damage and flooding in areas. District officials say a decision will be made on Tuesday and parents will be notified.
