Katy ISD teacher arrested for alleged improper relationship

KATY, TX (KTRK) -- A note went out to parents and staff in the Katy ISD after a teacher was reportedly caught on a school campus engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student Sunday night.

It was inside a portable classroom at Katy Junior High that district officials say they made the disturbing discovery of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student.

Heather Miller, 46, a seventh grade Texas History teacher, was immediately arrested after a Katy ISD police officer reportedly discovered her with the 14-year-old.

In an email, district officials alerted parents to the situation and said they would reach out directly to all those who may have been taught by or interacted on a regular basis with Miller.

Parent Nora Vega said, "She knew what she was doing and, I mean, and kids don't deserve that, nobody deserves that."

"Education is so good here and everybody is so good here, it's sad that something like this happens," said parent David Soodan.

Neighbors on the quiet, suburban street where Miller lives can't believe what she's accused of. Officials tell us Miller, a mother herself, has been teaching at Katy Jr. High since 2007.

Miller has been charged with a second degree felony for improper relationship between educator and student, according to the district. She was placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an investigation.
