KATY, TX (KTRK) -- The UIL has scheduled an emergency hearing set for Thursday concerning possible eligibility violations by Katy High School's football team.

Eyewitness Sports Reporter David Nuno has learned that it involves a player who transferred during the season from another Katy-area school. The playoff eligibility of that player is what's in question.

The player came into Katy's blowout win over Friendswood last weekend when the Tigers were up 66-0.

During the regular season, players who transfer have to wait 14 days to play. It's unclear what impact the transfer rules have on the playoffs.

According to the emergency hearing announcement, the UIL committee is looking into whether all the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules have been met. The meeting is schedule for 10:05am in Austin.

Katy is a high school football powerhouse, having won 7 state titles, including 3 under head coach Gary Joseph. They're scheduled to play Manvel in the next round of the playoffs this weekend.

If it's determined that Katy violated eligibility rules, punishment could range from a public reprimand, suspensions for players and/or personnel or the forfeiture of games.
