'What Would You Do?' host delivers keynote speech at UH banquet
Veteran broadcaster John Quinones was the keynote speaker at the University of Houston Center for Mexican American Studies' annual Noche Cultural Banquet.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- It was a night full of celebrating culture and success.

Veteran broadcaster and host of ABC's "What Would You Do?" John Quiones, was the keynote speaker at the University of Houston Center for Mexican American Studies' annual Noche Cultural Banquet.

The Center for Mexican American Studies helps assists young Latino scholars achieve their goals through scholarships and graduate fellowship programs. They also promote the Academic Achievers program, which mentors at-risk high school students, many of whom become the first in their families to graduate from college.

Quiones' says programs like these are important and his message to the students was no matter what your background is, you can take education and run with it, the sky is the limit.

Marcelo Martinez, a senior at Stephen F. Austin High School, will be attending the University of Houston next year as part of the Academic Achievers program. He says he is grateful for programs like this that help students like him make a difference.
