HARDIN, TX (KTRK) -- Human remains were found Saturday near the home of a man who has been missing for more than three months.
The remains were located at around 1pm in a section of woods just west of County Road 2003 in Hardin. That's near the family home where 23-year-old Christopher Maes, 23, had been living.
Though a confirmed identity can't be made until an autopsy is conducted and dental records and DNA testing complete, the Liberty County Sheriff's Office says clothing found nearby match the clothing Maes was wearing when he walked away from his home on August 28.
Family members who had reported him missing said Maes had a medical issue and had been depressed over a failed relationship.
