Alleged burglar shot while trying to steal hubcaps in NW Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man was shot while allegedly attempting to steal hubcaps or wheels off at least one vehicle in northwest Houston.

The shooting happened around 2:20am on Whisper Point Drive at Terrace Brook Drive.

Deputies say the homeowner heard noises outside his home and that is when he grabbed his gun.

He stepped outside to investigate and saw a man in his driveway attempting to take the hubcaps or wheels.

The homeowner fired his gun once, striking the male suspect. The burglary suspect was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition.

The incident is under investigation.
