Houston-area weekend cancellations and delays

Several events scheduled across the Houston area are either being called off or changed due to the potential of severe weather this weekend. Here are some of them.

The Down Syndrome Association of Houston's Buddy Run 5K: The event has been canceled.

Houston ISD: All weekend field trips, athletic events and campus activities have been canceled.

Memorial Hermann Ironman: Race officials have shortened the bike course after last week's floods washed out portions of the previous route. An updated map is available on the race website.

Spring ISD: All Saturday tutorials and campus-based activities have been canceled.

Spring Branch ISD: Saturday's Running for the Arts 5K event has been canceled.

Varnett Public School: All school activities are canceled on Saturday.

The Woodlands Triathalon: The event has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
