HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 16-year-old is now in police custody, arrested and charged with tampering with evidence in the deadly shooting of Ezra Ryan Jackson last Friday in southwest Houston.

Police say the teen moved the gun after Jesse L. Davis, 17, allegedly shot Jackson in a gas station parking lot in the 11200 block of Fondren.

Davis is charged with manslaughter in this case.

Police say it began when Jackson was driving a vehicle with Davis and several other teenagers inside, when they stopped for fuel. Davis told investigators he was handling a gun and unintentionally discharged it, striking Jackson.

Jackson, with a gunshot wound to the stomach, got out of the vehicle and collapsed a few feet away. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
