HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is accused of beating his baby's mother while she was holding their 2-day-old newborn Saturday at an area hospital. Court records say the man accused in the attack was holding another child while he was swinging at her.

Dominec Dupont, 22, of Houston, is now behind bars, charged with felony child endangerment and felony for assault of a family member.
Records say a doctor stepped in to protect the newborn as Dupont allegedly struck the woman repeatedly in the face and ripped her hospital gown.
Officers detained Dupont and a protective order was issued against him.
Police have not released the name of the hospital where the alleged attack occurred.
