New details in murder of homeowner killed protecting property
Police say Donald Frazier was woken up by the suspected burglar, then was fatally shot when he confronted him

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Donald Frazier, 69, was a devoted minister, musician and family man. The father of two and grandfather of six was shot and killed Friday morning.

"We can't believe he's gone," said his son, Jeremy Frazier, said. "And I've just been walking around the house, not sure what I'm supposed to do now."

Frazier and his wife woke up to their lights flickering just after 1am. Frazier grabbed his small gun, put it in the waistband of his pajamas and went outside to see what was going on.

Investigators say 30-year-old Daniel Durham was outside his garage. The two men started scuffling and investigators say Durham used Frazier's gun to shoot and kill him.

Authorities say deputies found Daniel Durham with blood on his clothes

Witnesses say they later saw Durham walking in the neighborhood with blood splattered on his clothes and legs.

When investigators stopped him, they say he admitted to the murder. Frazier's pistol was later found in a nearby trashcan.

"He tried to live his life by constantly helping other people," Jeremy said. "I know by the number of people that he helped and tried to help that he will sorely missed."

Murder charges are pending against Durham.
