The Harris County appraisal district says 80-90 percent of the appraisals have been sent out, with the exception of the Heights and Meyerland. Those will be coming at the end of the month.
In Harris County overall, property values are up about 5 percent.
Properties on the east side of the county are seeing the biggest increases.
Those increases are about 6 to 8 percent for properties valued under $250,000, due to expansion projects.
Those expansion projects have been announced or started at the refineries and chemical plants, so people are moving to the area to be closer to where they work.
Surprisingly, properties inside the city and those on I-10 west along the Energy Corridor did not go up as much in value over the last year.
That could because they had increases the previous three years.
Remember, if you disagree with the appraisal, you have until May 31 to file a protest.
The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector's office and HCAD are continuing workshops. A full schedule of those workshops are available here.
