HOUSTON -- This is a fun way to get the kid's involved with the Christmas Countdown. Let each kid create a countdown plate of their own, you could even use the decorated plate as table settings for Christmas dinner and have each person write what Christmas means to them on it. As always, remember to get creative and have fun.
Items Needed
Plate charger (color is your choice)
Americana chalkboard paint
Letter stickers (your choice, I like the glitter stickers)
Sponge brush
Christmas wired ribbon
Chalk
Hot glue gun
Bowdabra (https://www.bowdabra.com/)
First, be sure that the plate is clean of dust and oils, wash it with soap and water and let it dry completely. Next, paint 4 - 5 coats of the Americana Chalkboard paint onto the middle circle of the of plate using the sponge brush, let each coat dry at least 30 minutes before painting another coat. If you get streaks, blot the paint on the streaked part and let it dry a minute then brush it with the sponge brush. Let the plate dry over night before you write on it. Make a beautiful bow using the bowdabra and hot glue it to the top of the plate. Use the stickers to write Christmas Countdown by sticking them onto the chalkboard part of the plate. Let the kids get creative and draw with different colored chalk on the plate.
