DALLAS, Texas (KTRK) -- Several flights departing Houston Hobby Airport are delayed or cancelled this morning, impacted by a big evacuation at Dallas Love Field.

Dallas Fire and Rescue responded to a fire alarm around 4:30 a.m. The fire department said smoke from an over-heated component in an air conditioning unit set off the alarm.

Firefighters resolved the issue in less than 20 minutes, and passengers were allowed back in the terminal.

Dallas passengers were forced to be re-screened, prompting expected delays of 90 minutes.

Even travelers in Houston could feel the impact from the evacuation in Dallas. Dallas Love Field serves as a major connector of Southwest flights to and from Houston Hobby Airport. Two flights departing Love Field for Hobby were cancelled, while another four were delayed. One flight from Hobby to Dallas was cancelled.

Friday marks one of the busiest days to travel before Christmas Day. An estimated 2.7 million people are flying today.

All passengers at the Dallas Love Field Airport had to be re-screened after an evacuation. The airport said to allow 90 minutes for security screening.
