HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Milby Buffs enjoyed a dynasty type run in high school basketball during the mid-2000's. Kevin Quinney played on the 2004 state championship team, and saw how a school along with the community joined together for unforgettable memories.
When Quinney went looking for his first documentary as a filmmaker, he had his perfect story resource material.
"My wife always told me, that is the perfect story, you are a part of that program," said Quinney.
What struck Quinney immediately was the school's identity changing in the 1970's, from a predominately-football school, to a football and basketball school.
"We tell so much of the story through Coach (Boyce) Honea and the legendary background that he had at Milby and what he did for the community and FCA," he said. "And building up a program that became a powerhouse like Milby basketball, and leaving it to Coach Duffer to take over and winning state, that is the perfect story."
Quinney's dream isn't a reality just yet. They have created a profile on "Indigogo" a crowdfunding site for filmmakers. You can help support their cause on Indiegogo's website.
