JONESBORO, Illinois (KTRK) -- Some parents in Illinois are furious after their children were tested for STDs without their consent.
One mother says her 15-year-old was given a test and then medication without her even knowing about it.
Her son was also given a preventative medication that he had an allergic reaction to.
The testing and medication was all taken care of through the high school's health care services center.
The school is responsible for getting a written consent from parents, but in this case, no consent was given.
Under Illinois state law, it is actually legal for children over the age of 12 to be tested for STDs without parental consent.
