GALENA PARK, TX (KTRK) -- Authorities are investigating after someone broke into the Galena Park ISD headquarters and stole almost $2,000 in cash.
It happened Saturday. Surveillance video inside the Galena Park ISD main lobby shows a man just strolling along. What you don't see is that he tried to break into an ATM and also tried to remove a TV off the wall. He did not succeed.
What he did get was a safe that was in the main cafeteria. He carried it to another part of the building and pried it open. The district reported $1,900 was taken from that safe.
Officials say the burglar broke through a glass door to gain entry. Some employees were inside the building but none of them noticed anything suspicious.
"Because there were district employees working in back corner offices of the building at the time of the intrusion, the alarm was not set and the intrusion was not heard," the district explained in a prepared statement.
The suspected burglar has dark hair and facial hair. He was wearing a red shirt with blue jeans and tennis shoes.
If you recognize him, contact the Harris County Precinct 2 Constables Office.
