GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The world's largest barbecue is stationed up in Galveston over the Thanksgiving holiday and will help prepare food for more than 1,000 people.

They're going for a world record with "The Undisputable Cuz" (that's what the pit is named). It's the first big celebration they've had there.

"This is the world's largest BBQ pit. It's home is in Brenham, Texas," said co-owner Kimberly King. "There are 24 doors. 12 on each side. There also is in the middle towards the end, there is a propane fajita grill. There also is a generator that's down here underneath. It controls the cooler and all the TV equipment and stuff."

Volunteers Thursday will smoke turkeys and hams on it for the crowd, plus deliver meals to more than 200 people who can't leave their homes.

The pit is definitely up for the challenge. It's 76 feet long and can cook up to four tons of meat at a time.

King said she bought the pit as a business deal. How much for the pit? She told Eyewitness News she's asking for $350,000.
