Houston restaurants begin tossing romaine lettuce after alert

ABC13's Stefania Okolie reports from a downtown Houston restaurant where romaine lettuce is being tossed out following a health warning.
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A nationwide health warning from The Centers for Disease Control has prompted kitchens everywhere to toss out romaine salad.
According to the CDC, multiple states are reporting an illnesses caused by a dangerous type of E.coli.
In Houston, the leafy greens are heading for the trash can.

E. coli is a large group of bacteria found in the intestine of many living organisms, but some strains can lead to illness.
