Firefighters searching for cause of fire in Fort Bend County, Miya Shay reports.

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A massive fire that began just before 3pm on Wednesday in Fort Bend County has been brought under control.

The fire started at a commercial property off Gaines Road near Highway 6 and Bissonnet.

Thick black smoke and flames could be seen for miles. Officials issued a shelter-in-place order for a half-mile radius surrounding the fire. However, nearby residents did not follow the request and watched the fire throughout the afternoon.

Right now officials do not know the cause of the fire. They do say several wooden pallets and nearby cars were burned.

No one was injured.
