HCSO investigating fatal accident in Huffman

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal accident that occurred this morning around 6:20 a.m. in the 36000 block of FM 2100 in Huffman.

According to information from HCSO, "Steven Self was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on FM 2100 when he began having seizures which caused him to press down on the accelerator, rapidly increasing the speed."

The HCSO reported that Self was wearing a prosthetic right leg.

"The front passenger in the Chevrolet Silverado attempted to take control of the vehicle and release the driver's leg from the accelerator," the HCSO report reads. "The Chevrolet Silverado failed to drive in a single lane and swerved across the southbound lane of FM 2100 occupied by a Mazda CX-7."
