Students return to FBISD after Harvey

RICHMOND, Texas (KTRK) -- They're calling it the Fort Bend ISD "reboot."

Teachers started back Monday and students will return Tuesday.

A number of schools were damaged or flooded by Hurricane Harvey.

As the storm hit, a tornado damaged parts of Ridge Point High School. It even had some minor structural damage.

Then, as the floodwaters started to rise, a handful of elementary schools were flooded.

Juan Seguin Elementary School in the Grand Mission area is still closed. It is the only FBISD school closed due to Hurricane Harvey damage.

Willowridge High School is also closed but that is due to mold remediation, not storm damage.

Students who are zoned to Seguin will be split up. Kindergarten through second grades will attend classes at James Patterson Elementary School. Third through fifth grades will be housed at David Crocket Middle School.

Bus transportation will be provided for students.

Many of the students from Seguin Elementary School were impacted by the storm at home, too.

The district will have plenty of counselors on hand to help in any way they can.
