HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Lamar High School junior is getting lots of praise after getting a perfect score on a college entrance exam.

Edward Swart scored a perfect 36 on the ACT. To show you how big a deal this is, only about 1,600 students out of 1.9 million members of last year's high school graduating class got a perfect ACT store. Edward says he his classmates were surprised when they saw his score.

"The boy next to me kind of yelled it to the class and then it on a Snapchat story, then I got a lot of people asking me about it, which as not prepared for," Swart said.

Swart says he hopes this perfect score will help him get college scholarships. Swart wants to major in mechanical engineering but has not decided where he wants to go to school.
