Learn how to find out if your child's school is closing due to severe weather.

In addition to alerts from ABC13 and postings on their social media accounts, many local school districts offer text message alert systems and mobile apps to keep families updated about school closings and other emergency situations.

SIGN UP FOR SCHOOL ALERTS:

The following list of school districts offer notifications for parents. Read below to see how you can subscribe.

ALVIN ISD: Subscribe to text messages at any time by sending a text saying "Y" or "Yes" to 67587. The cell phone number must be on record with your student information in Skyward Family Access. They will also notify parents of school closings through email and web postings.

CLEAR CREEK ISD: Subscribe to text messages at any time by sending a text which says "Y" or "Yes" or "Optin" or "Subscribe" to 68453. The cell phone number must have be on record with your student information.

CY-FAIR ISD: Automated calls will be placed to student home phone numbers beginning at 6:00 a.m. using the district's Emergency Notification System (ENS) if conditions warrant the closing of schools.

FORT BEND ISD: A severe weather hotline is available to parents to learn about the latest information from the District regarding a severe weather occurrence. Please call (281) 634-INFO (4636) for information about schedule changes due to weather. Do you have a missed call from (281) 634-8500? This is the phone number assigned to FBISD's parent notification system. Please make note of this number for future reference.

HOUSTON ISD: Text YES to 68453 to opt in for weather alerts. Make sure your number is on file with your school.

HUMBLE ISD: Opt-in to receive text alerts by texting YES to 67587.

HUFFMAN ISD: Parents will be notified of school closings through our call-out system. Additional notification: email, web postings, and local news media.

KATY ISD: Download the Katy OnTheGo mobile app for emergency notifications.

LA PORTE ISD: Updates will be posted on the district's website, as well as through their official app, which enables announcements to be sent directly to your cell phone or tablet. It's available for free in Apple's App Store and in Google Play. (Search "La Porte ISD.")

PASADENA ISD: Parents will be notified of any changes to the schedule through the Pasadena ISD website, the district Facebook page, through the district's School Messenger call-out system and local media.

PEARLAND ISD: Text messages will be sent through Skyward Family Access to families that have a phone number on file.

SPRING ISD: The district will make any school closure announcement through the automated messaging system via phone, email and text to parents and staff, on SpringISD.org, facebook.com/SpringISD, twitter.com/SpringISD, the Spring ISD Newsline at 281-891-6002 and the Spring ISD Mobile App. Download the app for free in the Apple store or Google play. In addition, the message will be broadcast over major TV and radio stations.

SPRING BRANCH ISD: In the event of an emergency, Spring Branch ISD will also initiate an automated phone call alerting parents of school closures or delays. Please be sure to keep your contact information updated with your campus at all times. Spring Branch ISD will also post information on our main number at: (713) 251-2000.
